Financial grants to report on the threats facing the Mediterranean
Journalists from any country bordering the Mediterranean can apply for a grant of 1,000 euros provided by the Earth Journalism Network.
Ideas on poaching, illegal fishing and the biodiversity crisis in the Mediterranean will be supported.
In addition to funding, selected journalists will receive support from experienced mentors throughout the story production process.
Ideas can be around:
- Biodiversity loss in the Mediterranean Sea
- Endangered marine species
- Marine protected areas
- Marine pollution
- The deep sea
- Illegal and destructive fishing
- Destructive impact of bottom trawling
- Destructive fishing practices (trawling, nets, dynamite)
- Overfishing of species such as blackspot seabreams, European hake, blue and red shrimp, deep-water rose shrimp, sardines, anchovies, sardinellas, red mullets, Black Sea turbots, European eels and common dolphinfish.

Financial grants to support reports on the effects of climate change on workers
The Pulitzer Center, a nonprofit organization that supports independent global journalism, is accepting applications for a new reporting initiative focused on climate change and its impacts on workers and labor.
The initiative encourages freelance journalists and employees with ambitious projects and strong ideas in-depth in reporting to apply for Pulitzer Center support to cover the intersection of work and climate in their communities.
The initiative is particularly interested in submissions from regions in Southeast Asia, Europe, Africa and South America.
In addition to data, the initiative welcomes all kinds of formats: print, digital, broadcast, TV, radio, and film projects, and encourages lively and innovative storytelling that can be shared across platforms and in multiple languages.
The amount awarded depends on the scope and complexity of the project, the media formats involved, and the distribution plan.
